Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC 'Il Conteso' Limited Production, Cossetti 2004 14% abv
Il Conteso is a stunning, full-bodied wine produced entirely from nebbiolo grapes just
outside of the Barolo DOCG region near Alba in north-west Italy. The Cossetti
family have been producing superb wines in Piedmont since 1891, and this ‘Baby
Barolo’ was produced as a one off vintage to make the most of the heralded 2004 vintage, which many believes to be the best for decades. It is garnet-coloured with a complex, full body and a velvet finish
with spices and vanilla. It can be enjoyed now, and will continue to improve
considerably for at least another 10 years. Perfect with truffles, game and meat
dishes, or a hearty pasta.
